Welcome to this comprehensive guide on how to connect Sawgrass SG500/SG1000 Printer to WiFi . I understand that setting up WiFi can be confusing, so I’m going to walk you through how to connect your Sawgrass SG500 / SG1000 printer to Wi-Fi. Follow these steps to get started:

Connection Requirements and Setup Tips

Before you begin, please take note of the following requirements and setup tips:

  1. Only the SG500 and SG1000 models are equipped with WiFi.
  2. Make sure you have your network password ready.
  3. The printer must connect to a 2.4GHz wireless network.
  4. We recommend a signal strength of 75% or higher for optimal performance. Insufficient signal strength may result in dropped connections or slow printing.
  5. Both the printer and the PC you will be installing the printer on must be on the same network (SSID).
  6. To enable the wireless function on the printer, the LAN Type must be set to Wireless LAN.

Prepare the Printer

Before you do anything on your computer, you’ll want to tell the printer that you want to connect to a wireless network. Follow these steps on the printer itself:

  1. Press the “Menu” button to wake up the printer and bring up the ink levels.
  2. Press “Menu” again.
  3. Navigate to “System Settings” using the up and down arrows.
  4. Scroll down to “Interface Settings” and select it.
  5. Go to “Network.”
  6. Look for “LAN Type” and click on it.
  7. Select “Wireless LAN.” The printer should display “Programmed.”
  8. Press the “Menu” button, and the Wi-Fi light should start blinking.

Connect to a Wi-Fi Network

Follow these steps to set the LAN Type on your printer:

  1. Press the [Menu] button.

2. Use the Up or Down arrow button to navigate to [System Settings], then press the [OK] button.

3. Navigate to [Interface Settings], then press the [OK] button.

4. Navigate to [Network], then press the [OK] button.

5. Navigate to [LAN Type], then press the [OK] button.

6. Select [Wireless LAN] for wireless connection, then press the [OK] button.

Method 1: WPS Button

To connect your printer using the WPS Button method, follow these steps:

  1. Press the [Menu] button.

2. Use the Up or Down arrow button to navigate to [System Settings], then press the [OK] button.

3. Navigate to [Interface Settings], then press the [OK] button.

4. Navigate to [Wireless LAN], then press the [OK] button.

5. Navigate to [Wireless LAN Easy Setup], then press the [OK] button.

6. Select [Push Button Method], then press the [OK] button.

7. Press the WPS button on your wireless router or access point.

8. Press the selection key for [Exit].

Method 2: SSID Auto Search

To connect your printer using the SSID Auto Search method, follow these steps:

6. Select [SSID Auto Search], then press the [OK] button.

The control panel will display the message “Searching for a network… Please wait.”

7. Use the Up or Down arrow button to select the desired SSID to connect to, then press the [OK] button.

8. Enter the password and press the selection button for [Accept].
Use the OK button to select each character, and use the ABC/123 button to change the character set if needed. The Delete button can be used to remove the most recently entered character.

9. The message “Connection succeeded” will appear on the control panel. Press the selection button for [Exit].
If the message “Connection failed” appears, double-check the entered password and ensure you are connecting to the correct network.

10. The blue wireless light next to the LCD panel should now be on, confirming the wireless connection.

Test the Wi-Fi Signal

To ensure a stable connection, test the strength of your Wi-Fi signal:

  1. Go to “Menu” and navigate to “System Settings” > “Interface Settings” > “Network.”
  2. Look for “Wireless LAN Signal” and select it.
  3. Check the signal status. Ideally, it should be at least 75% or higher for reliable Wi-Fi printing. Anything below that might result in dropped connections during printing.
  4. If the signal strength is below 75%, consider either moving your router closer to the printer or the printer closer to the router.
  5. If achieving a stronger signal is not possible, it’s recommended to use a USB cord instead of Wi-Fi to avoid potential printing issues.

How to Connect Sawgrass sg500/sg1000 Printer to Your Computer

Once your printer is connected to Wi-Fi, follow these steps to connect it to your computer:

  1. On your computer, navigate to the “Add New Printer” screen in the print manager.
  2. Select your printer model and ink type.
  3. Click “Next.”
  4. Install the printer driver, ensuring that the required and installed versions match. If they don’t, click “Reinstall.”
  5. Choose the “Wi-Fi” option and click “Add Printer.”
  6. Accept the agreement and click “Next.”
  7. Select “Search over Port or LAN” instead of connecting via USB.
  8. Click “Next” to initiate the automatic search for printers on your Wi-Fi network.
  9. Choose the appropriate printer from the list of IP addresses found by the search.
  10. Obtain the printer’s IP address by following these steps on the printer: “Menu” > “System Settings” > “Interface Settings” > “Network” > “Machine IPv4 Address.” Note the IP address displayed.
  11. Select the printerwith the IP address that matches the one obtained from the printer.
  12. Click “Next” to continue.
  13. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the printer driver and establish a connection to your printer.
  14. Once the driver is installed and the connection is established, click “Finish” to complete the process.

Verify the Connection

To ensure the printer is connected and online, follow these steps:

  1. Open the printer utilities on your computer.
  2. Check the printer status to verify that it shows as online.
  3. You should see the printer listed with its ink levels and status. If the status still shows as offline, it may be due to a low Wi-Fi signal strength.
  4. If the signal strength is low, consider improving the signal or switching to a USB connection for better reliability.

Congratulations! You have successfully connected your printer to Wi-Fi. You can now enjoy wireless printing convenience. If you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out. Thank you for reading, and stay tuned for more helpful guides.
