How Do You Do a Hard Reset on an AcuRite Weather Station?

A hard reset clears the connection between the sensor and display and forces them to re-pair from scratch. It fixes most sync problems that a battery swap alone won’t solve.

  1. Bring both the outdoor sensor and display unit within 2 feet of each other.

The A-B-C channel change is the step most people skip. It forces both units to drop their old pairing memory and negotiate a clean connection from zero.

Why Is My AcuRite Reading -40° or 158°?

A fixed reading of exactly -40°F or exactly 158°F (or 1% and 99% for humidity) is almost always caused by corrosion on the temperature and humidity (T&H) board inside the outdoor sensor. It’s not a glitch on the display. The sensor itself is reporting a hardware error.

According to AcuRite’s support documentation, here’s how to check and fix it:

  1. Open the outdoor sensor housing (usually a few small screws on the back).
  2. Look for the small green or black circuit board connected to black and red wires. That’s the T&H board.
  3. Unplug the white connector and inspect both ends for green or white corrosion buildup.
  4. If you see corrosion, clean the connectors with a small wire brush.
  5. While you have the sensor open, check for insects, cobwebs, or debris and clear them out.
  6. Plug the connector back in, wait 20 seconds, close the housing, and reinstall.

AcuRite Access Not Connecting to WiFi

The AcuRite Access hub only works on 2.4 GHz WiFi networks. It won’t connect to 5 GHz, and it won’t connect reliably if your router broadcasts both bands under the same network name.
